Do I need to enter a foreign port?

Yes, you will need to make sure you you have visited one foreign port each tax year.

When is the ship regarded as being outside the UK?

Typically when making a claim, outside the 12 mile limit at midnight is viewed as being outside of the UK. However, HMRC may welcome situations where a vessel leaves its UK berth before midnight and go to a foreign port.

Will it be necessary for me to take a holiday abroad?

If you have not been out of the UK for a minimum of 183 days then a holiday maybe necessary to make up for the short fall of days
